Tibet Engagement Fair Participants
Below are some of the organizations confirmed to participate at this year's Tibet Engagement Forum:

DROKPO
www.drokpoteam.com
Drokpo Team was established in the year 2004. It is a non-profit organization with the sole purpose of providing a helping hand and being an example for Tibetan youth. The word “Drokpo” is a Tibetan word which means “friend”, and we are friends of everyone, especially those in need of our help and we are ready to provide it in any way we can. This courage, motivation and optimism to help others grew in our hearts after two drokpos (Phuntsok and Norbu) visited the TRC (Tibetan Reception Center, Kathmandu). They were shocked to see so many newly arrived Tibetan people from Tibet sleeping in and around the TRC compound with thin mattresses-- many even sleeping out in the open basketball court. In order to fulfill the needs of those people, Drokpo Team was formed.

GTPN’s mission is to create a global network of Tibetan professionals and connect them with the community.

This Tibetan Life
This Tibetan Life is a web-based platform for second generation Tibetans to share their stories and experiences. Currently, the website focuses on listening by creating a community for young Tibetans to unite over their shared experiences. In 2016, This Tibetan Life will be launching its new project which will begin shifting the focus from listening to action; the project will challenge community members to take a step past sharing lived experiences by developing crucial skills and mobilizing to see the change they want in the world. This Tibetan Life’s upcoming project will kick off in January with a webinar series focused on leadership and life skills development within the Tibetan youth community in order to prepare Tibetan youth and instill them with the confidence to take action in their communities. We strive to empower Tibetan youth to share their lived experiences, identify the challenges our generation faces, and develop the skills to tackle these issues.

In the years since then, the Chungba Primary School has become a model for rural Tibetan education across Ganzi prefecture - a region of nearly a million Tibetans. The work of Machik has expanded year after year, growing organically and incrementally in new directions and is currently organized around six program areas: The Chungba Project, Summer Enrichment Programs, Women's Initiative, Youth Leadership, Social Entrepreneurship, and Governance.

MOTHER'S WISH

Machik has also developed and launched Mother’s Wish, a program to sponsor the education of young women. Now established as a registered NGO in its own right in Qinghai, Mother’s Wish has supported over two thousand young Tibetan women through middle, high school and college education. To date, 112 young women have received their undergraduate degree. Currently, there are over 500 young women receiving support from the scholarship program. Machik continues to be the angel sponsor of Mother’s Wish, providing for all operational costs to ensure that the program can continue. Through a rigorous selection process, young women are identified who show special aptitude for study, but who would not have the opportunity to continue their education without outside intervention. In addition to providing an education, Mother’s Wish seeks to promote a commitment to service among the young women by supporting community outreach efforts to help seniors and the poor.
